Will Muschamp was not ready to change positions at the quarterback position in South Carolina, even after Jake Bentley's overall disappointing performance against North Carolina.
He may not have the choice as host of Gamecocks in Charleston Southern this Saturday.
According to WASH FOX sports reporter Mike Uva, Bentley has broken his foot and will run out of time – and it seems like six weeks is the most conservative scenario:
Breaking: Ryan Hilinski has been informed by the coaching staff of the USC that he will start this week at QB for the Gamecocks and that he will go forward, by source. A source told me that Bentley should be away for at least six weeks with a broken foot, but that could be longer. @wachfox

If the university has not confirmed his candidacy, Uva has already been at the forefront. He was the first to announce the news of Tavien Feaster's transfer to South Carolina several weeks ago.
In all honesty, it would not have been reasonable to put Bentley on the bench even with an FCS opponent coming for the home opening game. But if Hilinski can navigate the Gamecocks after Saturday's game against the Buccaneers, it might be fair to say that this weekend in Charlotte was the last we saw from Bentley as a quarterback from the Gamecocks.
But it is putting the cart well before the horse. For now, Hilinski is the guy, and the eyes of the Gamecock nation will focus on him.
