Romelu Lukaku said his move from Manchester United to Inter Milan was the "boost of energy" he needed in his career.
The Belgian striker switched to Serie A for £ 70m ($ 117.7m) last month after two seasons at Old Trafford, where he felt like a scapegoat – to sides of Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba – for the Red Devils struggles.
After scoring in his first two games for Inter, the 26-year-old told Sky Italia: "I knew I was coming here to play for a big team.
"The expectations are really great and … the club is going in the right direction.
"So it was good for me. (At) 26, I wanted to discover something else in the league that I love, it was the right choice for me.
"I said to (his teammate Kwadwo) Asamoah, I 've really made the right decision, it' s the energy, the energy boost I 'd had need."
Comments came soon after his Belgian boss, Roberto Martinez, who also coached Lukaku at Everton, said the striker was bored at United.
Martinez told the Daily Mail that Lukaku was underrated in England, despite the total of his 146 goals scored for three English Premier League clubs.
The Spaniard said: "Romelu has not been appreciated most of the time, he has been in the British game.
"And the reason is very clear.
"Everyone analyzes what he did not get as number 9. Everyone wants to tell him that the first grip should be better, he should be stronger in the air, he must make more room.
"But what they miss, is his outstanding trade as a scorer – look at his stats – he is one of the most important scorers of his age."
Meanwhile, Lukaku's new teammate for Inter, Sanchez, suggested that he had not succeeded in Old Trafford because of his lack of playing time.
He said: "If they let me play a full game, I would win, but sometimes I have 60 minutes and I do not play the next game, and I did not know why."
The 30-year-old Chilean, on loan at Inter, has only scored five goals in 45 appearances for United. He played the full 90 minutes on just 13 occasions.
