The former White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders, said that "99%" of the people who harass her are women.
Sanders appeared on Fox and friends Friday morning, debuting on the network as a contributor. The show was dedicated to honoring the first responders, and they had an audience in the studio.
At the time of her appearance, Steve Doocy asked Sanders how she had been treated in public since leaving the White House, while specifically referring to the time when she was fired from the Red Hen Restaurant in Virginia in June 2018.
"What I always find interesting is that 99% of people who come to say something negative and who attack you are women," she said. "I find it very surprising to a group of people who claim to be the champions of women's empowerment.
"I am only the third woman and the first mother to hold the position of press secretary of the White House, yet women are attacking me relentlessly." Instead of being proud of see more women doing this type of work, "she added.
Sanders went on to say that he had not been asked to leave the restaurants since his departure.
