An affordable 8K Ultra-HD TV

[ad_1]

The flagship TVs available today, the 8K Ultra-HD TVs not only offer 7680 × 4320 pixel resolution, but also incorporate the latest technology from the manufacturers. They therefore offer the ultimate experience, even with 4K or 2K content. This is exactly what the Samsung 8K TV family does, but because of its premium positioning, the company offers them in large size, which means an excessive price for most. Until this week.

At IFA, Samsung has introduced its smallest UHD 8K TV to date: the QN55Q900RBFXZA 55-inch Q900R, which costs significantly less than the rest of the SKUs in the lineup.

The TV uses Samsung's Samsung class IPS panel 7680 × 4320, backed by a quantum dot-optimized LED backlight that promises FALD-like operation, a technology the Samsung calls Direct 16X Direct Array technology (in the case of the 55 model). inches). The TV has a maximum brightness of 4000 nits, which is the maximum luminance at which HDR content is controlled today. Speaking of HDR, the Q900 series officially supports HDR10, HDR10 + and HLG, but not Dolby Vision (at least for the moment). As for the color gamut, the Q900 series can reproduce 100% of the DCI-P3 space.

Like its big brothers, the 55-inch Samsung Q900R uses the company's Quantum 8K processor as a brain. The SoC is responsible for all decoding, upconversion and other operations. Among the chip features that Samsung is particularly proud of is its patented 8K AI Upscaling technology, designed to improve the quality of digital content at the panel's native resolution (does not work with computers, games, analog content, etc. .). In addition, the SoC is also capable of interpolating content at 240 frames per second and supports AMD's FreeSync / HDMI Variable Refresh technologies.

Finally, the UHD TV comes with a 60W 4.2-channel audio subsystem.

The technological excellence of Samsung's Q900 Series Ultra-HD TVs is well-known, but the main feature of the 55-inch model is its price. The price of 8K TV is $ 2,499, which is comparable to that of high-end 4K TVs. Given the fact that retail prices tend to fall below the minimum cost, the 55-inch Q900 will probably be much more widespread than its larger counterparts.
