At its iPhone 11 event, Apple should release its own tracking tool that can be placed on frequently lost items. This is done to the detriment of Tile, the long-time company announcing today that a more direct integration with Google Assistant is expected to occur later this year.
Tile already has a Wizard – or Action on Google – application that allows users to ask their phone for the location of registered items, such as keys or luggage. Future integration does not require a phone to work, mosaic controls running independently on any device with wizard.
The Google Assistant "connects directly to lost objects and calls them", and becomes "an additional hub capable of calling your lost mosaic". According to the company, this configuration will be globally "faster and more reliable".
Tile specifically wants to "enhance home search features" with this integration of Google Assistant, making it the ideal feature for smart displays and home enclosures.
The Google Assistant will support Tile voice activated "ringtone" technology, which will allow the platform to connect directly to lost items and ring them for faster and more reliable results. The process is very similar to the execution of any other action of the smart home with the wizard.
The more direct integration of Google Assistant with Google Assistant will be "launched later this year". Over the past few days, Tile has been preemptively preparing for Apple's upcoming announcement. However, this competing device will likely work only on iOS devices, leaving a big market for Android users.
