Where can Samsung go next with the S Pen?

The S Pen, characteristic of the Note line, is now much more than a stylus. It's basically a gadget of its own. However, some of the latest new features introduced with the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ give us the impression that Samsung is starting to scratch the bottom of the utility barrel. I mean, shaking the pen S Pen to change the camera mode while holding the camera with the other hand is not really revolutionary. So what's left to do if we do not offer our own ideas on how Samsung can further improve the S Pen in the future? While some ideas are a little advanced, it is not necessary that Samsung implement all at once or in the near future.

S Pen with a built-in microphone

Now, the S Pen Pen is great for taking notes – you remove it and start writing on the screen. What's easier than that? Well, how about removing it and telling it quickly everything you need to remember? Of course, voice memos already exist on phones, but it would be convenient to the next level. And while you speak, the phone can also transcribe your words so that you have both the audio file and a text version.

A microphone would also be useful if you're trying to record an interview-type video or join a teleconference via your note and want people to hear you more clearly. Now, I'm not going to pretend that there are no detrimental goals for which a detachable mic can be used, but it depends on the morality of the individual.

Obviously, you would not want your remote microphone to start recording as soon as you remove the S Pen and the button already contains many features, that's why we have a complementary idea …

A second functional button

Adding another button on the S Pen may seem like a small change, but it will greatly increase its usefulness. Not only do you have extra pressure, long and double, to add features, but two buttons combined with the S Pen's motion tracking capabilities can make it a makeshift game controller. If an app does not use the second button for something specific, Samsung can still allow you to assign it to your desires. This is the phone of an experienced user after all, right?

For quite some time now, Samsung's S Pen APIs have been available to developers. Yet most people do not seem to think that the integration of unique interactions reserved for Note users is interesting enough. What Samsung could do to make the two S Pen buttons useful everywhere is to allow users to map them to a specific spot on the screen, so that pressing the button becomes a recording. Imagine a game in which you mainly have to jump and shoot, you can make sure that the controls on the screen are triggered with your S Pen without any additional effort on the part of the developer.

Fortunately for Samsung, our next idea does not require any new research and development. Instead, it's back to basics …

A real ink pen in the S Pen

It may seem crazy since the purpose of the S Pen is mainly to write things on the Galaxy Note instead of using a traditional pen on paper, but listen to me. During the daily activities of a businessman, it is inevitably necessary to sign a document or simply to write something that is intended for another. So would not it be nice if there was a tiny ink tank in the S pen pen and a ball point that you can reveal and amaze everyone by the usefulness of your phone? In addition, the marketing possibilities of such a product are endless.

We had a few more ideas but they were too crazy even for this list. What do you think?
