Kim Clijsters, four-time singles champion at the Grand Slam, will end a seven-year retreat and return to the WTA circuit next year at age 36.

But I also liked being a professional tennis player. And honestly, I miss that feeling. So … what if I tried to do both? Could I love mom for my three kids and the best tennis player I can be? Clijsters took his second retirement after the 2012 season.
She and her husband Brian Lynch, former basketball player from Villanova, has three children. The Jada girl was born in 2008, after which Clijsters came out of retirement to win two US Open and an Australian Open, as well as her sons Jack in 2013 and Blake in 2016.
"My first goal would be to make me feel where I want to be, to know it, OK, I feel ready to compete where I'm fit enough to play tough games," she said. on the WTA Insider podcast. "If, in December, I feel like I'm not even near where I want to be, I will not even go anywhere else."
Clijsters is one of three moms to win a Grand Slam singles title at the time of the opening, with Margaret Court and Evonne Goolagong Cawley.
She stated that she had "started from scratch" at the training to get in shape and that, even though she was coming back from the swing of the pre-Australian Open in January, she could run away two or three months between tournaments.
"There is still a long way to go," she said. "More energy these last six months than the last two years."
If Clijsters can enter the world 's top 60 (and perhaps as low as the No. 80) by the end of Roland Garros, she could qualify for the Olympics. She could also be an option for a wild card, but Clijsters dismissed that idea if she did not play at a certain level.
"I'm not going to the Olympics because I want to be part of the Olympics," she said. "If I go to the Olympics, I want to play at a decent level."
