Super Nintendo World opens next spring at Universal Studios Japan. While most of the details of this much anticipated theme park expansion have remained secret, the President and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts, Tom Williams, has revealed more information about the park in a interview at Bank of America Merrill Lynch's media, communications and entertainment conference in 2019 in Los Angeles this week.
At the opening, the Japanese Super Nintendo World will host a Mario Kart race and a Yoshi's Adventure adventure, Williams said. These two rides will be part of the "first phase" of the park. The field will also be interactive, with a red magnetic bracelet to wear that will allow customers to fully immerse themselves in all the "levels" of the park – and "interface" with the game consoles, apparently.
"You will be able to go up and score points and play with the different games, and that also means that you can score points if you choose to do it in the rides and that it connects to your game console," he explained. Williams. . He did not specify the console with which the bracelet would connect or what it means exactly.
He also confirmed that a Bowser themed area, as well as Princess Peach's castle, would be included in the park. Williams promised that Super Nintendo World would come to other Universal Parks after the opening of the Japanese park, although he did not give a schedule.
"But we bring it," he said. "You can count on it."
