DETROIT – Tommy Kahnle had to see the coach after the second game of the Yankees' double round against the Tigers on Thursday. He started a walk and gave a triple before being shot in the ninth Bombers 6-4 win.

Aaron Boone claimed to be slamming his hand against a container containing sunflower seeds.

"He did something on his finger," said Boone. "He's fine, I think."

The official added that he would talk to Kahnle about the possibility of controlling his emotions.

Aaron Judge also scared the Yankees early in the fourth game of the second game when he crashed against the right field wall to make a nice catch on John Hicks' ball.

The judge hit the left side of his body against the wall but said that he was fine.

When asked how he was following the match, the judge said he was fine and added, "How's the wall?"

Luke Voit scored for the first time since 22 July – and for the first time since returning from a holiday in IL for a sports hernia – when he plunged into the first match of the double, a 10-4 victory . Voit also added a double of ground rule and a single RBI in the opening win.

He went 1-for-3 with a ride in Game 2.

"I think the quality of his attackers is improving," said Boone after the first match. "I think his timing is improving over the last four or five games. His quality at bat was a bit incoherent on his return. "

DJ LeMahieu stood out in six games in the first game, which Boone called "a rare game where he did not have his best shots."

LeMahieu scored two goals as his batting average dropped to .332, the lowest since June 24th.

"I felt that his time was good," said Boone. "Maybe it was expanding [the strike zone] a little bit. … It's nothing that worries me too much.

LeMahieu rebounded in style 2 in the second game, scoring a double RBI and a 3-on-5 record, and now beats .325. Nevertheless, he has struck twice again.

Ben Heller made his return from the operation Tommy John after throwing a round in the first game win. Heller had not appeared in the major leagues since 2017. He gave up racing in his only run.

Austin Romine had three hits in the opening match – her third consecutive game with several hits. He now has 34 goals for 95 (.358) with eight doubles, five homers and 17 RBIs in his last 29 games.
