In astrology, lunar cycles serve as a wake-up call to define new intentions or to let go of luggage, depending on whether the moon is fading or lengthening. But lunar cycles can also affect our sleep, according to Lisa Stardust, an astrologer, especially during the new moon and full moon.
"Often, they can burn us down or worsen our insomnia," she tells Bustle. As the full moon arrives just after noon on September 14, you may be wondering how the full moon of September 2019 will affect your sleep. Depending on your zodiac sign, it may be a festive night – depending on the time zone in which you live, the full moon of September could even fall on Friday the 13th for you, to add a scary element. Or, it might be a night to stay and stay quiet: practice personal care, meditate and reflect on what you have accomplished in the last six months.
While new moons are usually the time to set goals for the future, full moons are a perfect time for closing chapters, abandoning the past and harvesting the fruits of your past planning and goals. Do not forget to take a little time in the middle of the moon to pay tribute to all that you have done or, if you have had difficult months, take a night to get rid of it and let off steam. Here's what you can expect for your full moon sleep, based on your sign.
Aries (March 21st – April 19th)
Aries is one of the signs that will require extra sleep this full moon.
"Give yourself enough time for a nap because you will need it," says Stardust. "Rest, gold button!"
Bull (April 20 – May 20)
The bull could be the life of the party right now, which will leave them feeling bad at work. "Partying with friends makes you sleepy," says Stardust. "Make sure you give yourself time to rest to avoid falling asleep at the office."
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Gemini feels pressure at work, which could lead to late spirals of anxiety. Finding ways to relax will be crucial on this full moon, according to Stardust.
"Work stress can keep you awake at night," she says. "Try a massage or acupuncture to relax."
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Cancer can contain too many distractions to relax at the end of the day. Moving some priorities may be in order.
"You are too stimulated, which can make you insomniac at night," says Stardust. "Do not be deprived of sleep, balance yourself."
Leo (July 23 – August 22)
The full moon in September is the perfect time for Leo to take a morning of rest and sleep more.
"You're exhausted right now, go to sleep and sleep during that time," Stardust advises.
Virgin (23 August – 23 September)
Virgo is about to make a ton of subconscious treatments this full moon. Your thoughts may be racing when you are awake, but with the help of some relaxation tools, your dreams can help you organize yourself mentally.
"This full moon seems to be a very sleepy sleep period for our friends of the Virgin," said astrologer Shawnte Cato in Bustle. "There will be a lot of activity and thoughts around others in your life – give yourself a hot bath and knock yourself out early because you deserve it!"
Astrologer Cindy Mckean tells Bustle:
"You must always respect a good sleep hygiene, your sleep will be dreamy. But you may wake up with the hangover from improved dreams.Do not worry, you will have a message in your dreams that will help you find a long lost object. "
Libra (September 23 – October 22)
Libra are also likely to have themselves a full moon asleep, according to Cato. You could have "a lot of paperwork to think about the values of your inner life," she says. "It's a wonderful time to ask for advice because your dreams could be improved."
Mckean notes that the good night of Libra on this full moon is conditional on them having their ducks lined up. "The full moon of Pisces will trigger ideals and romantic dreams," she says. "Note who you see in your dreams because you will see your other half play a major role in your sleep."
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
"This Full Moon could make you wake up very late," warns Cato. "You will think a lot about yourself and your place in the world – and maybe even let yourself go to love.Have fun! You deserve praise and celebration."
Mckean adds, "This night's sleep will be the end of one or more problems you were working on." "The clean slate, you'll be ready for new tasks the next morning."
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
Sagittarius has a playful night in front of him on a full moon.
"This full moon is late, rest is not your favorite because it does not offer much adventure for you," says Cato. "But some of you have worked to affirm their family ties and eliminate those who do not fit their needs based on the vision you want to defend in your own home."
Mckean suggests that there is room for romance too, if that tempts you, Sag.
"There is a good chance for a dating, so you can have more action than sleeping at night," she teases. "If you decide to stay single, you'll be inclined to stay out all night, mix and be entertained by adventures or late nights.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)
This full moon offers Capricorn the opportunity to organize its great ambitions with a judicious use of relaxation.
"It's a great night for problem solving," says Mckean. "Capricorns are advised to do some stretching or meditation before bedtime, and to focus on what you want to do in the next two weeks, so you'll probably sleep well tonight."
If you still feel anxious, Stardust suggests, "Distress with a hot bath or CBD to help cure insomnia".
Aquarius (January 20 – February 19)
"A thought will whisper in your ear that could keep you from sleeping the first hour or two," warns Mckean. "Then, as if by magic, you will fall into a sleepy sleep of fractal images and travels."
Stardust adds that you may be "in the mood to take several naps during the day". She suggests trying to rest and relax at home.
Fish (February 20 – March 20)
"With the moon in your sign, you'll be easily seduced by Morpheus's arms," advises Mckean in Pisces. "Your dreams will be soft, light, like those of a cotton. You may want to sleep a bit later than usual, so plan to indulge because you will be in your element."
So whether it's sweet dreams or a hectic night, enjoy the full moon of September and reboot.
