Search in Google Earth leads to a horrible end to the case of people missing for decades

A man who used Google Earth to take a look at his old property ended up discovering something unusual: a series of events that led to the remains of a person which disappeared two decades ago.

While surveying a pond behind the house, the man noticed a mass that appeared to be a vehicle and reached out to the current resident of the property, who then used a drone to scan the Grand Isles property, in Florida.

This resident then contacted the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, which confirmed that it was a vehicle, the statement said.

The sheriff's office removed the vehicle from the pond, which they said was "heavily calcified" and was in the water "for a considerable time".

"After removing the vehicle, skeletal remains were found inside," said the sheriff's office.

On Tuesday, the authorities identified the remains as those of William Moldt, who was reported missing on 8 November 1997 after leaving a nightclub, authorities said.

Moldt left the club alone and does not appear intoxicated, according to the Associated Press. He called his girlfriend to tell him that he was leaving the nightclub and that he was no longer talking about it, AP reported.
