The justice governor and Senator Manchin issued statements regarding the death of senior footballer Alex Miller.

"Today, our heart is shattered by the tragic loss of football player Alex Miller from Roane County High School, Cathy and I pray – with all of us – for Alex's family, friends and family. the entire community of Roane County in this incredibly difficult time.

I would also like to offer our support to all that can be done to help those affected by this terrible tragedy during this time of mourning. This young man was caught too early. Today, all the people of western West Virginia are afflicted with the community of Roane County, "said the governor of justice.

"Gayle and I are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Alex Miller last night.It is difficult to hear that someone as young and talented is leaving us too much. Students, teachers and members of High School County High School are present in our thoughts and prayers, and my staff and I are ready to support the family and the community in mourning this tragic loss. " said Senator Joe Manchin.

Dr. Richard Duncan, Superintendent of Roane County Schools, sent a press release that reads as follows:

Alex Miller, a senior at Roane County High School, died Friday night after he collapsed during a football game at Clay County High School.

Miller immediately received emergency medical care and was transported to a local hospital, but these efforts ultimately failed.

The game was initially suspended until Saturday night, but from Saturday morning, it was suspended for an indefinite period pending a decision on its resumption.

The administration and advisers at Roane County High School have received offers of support and assistance from their colleagues in the region. They are now trying to help their students, staff and community through this difficult time.

The school will be available to students, staff and community members to talk with local councilors and pastors on Saturday afternoon. Additional support will be provided in the coming days and weeks.

Officials from Roane County High School said a football player had died Friday night after collapsing on the pitch.
