Hold everything. At the 45th edition of this week's Saturn Awards, Kevin Feige, director of Marvel Studios, drew the curtain on an unprecedented post-credits sequence of the original 2008 Iron Man movie.
Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson), MVP of Marvel Cinematic Universe, explains: "As if gamma crashes, radioactive insect bites and various mutants were not enough, I have to take care of it." A spoiled child who does not play well with others and wants to keep all his toys for him. He talks about Hulk, Spider-Man, and most likely X-Men, in that order. If Disney buys 20th Century Fox, which holds the rights to the X-Men, this could be an early indicator of intentions. Of course, the spoiled brat is Tony Stark, a man of the Iron Man genre, played by Robert Downey, Jr. in the movie and its aftermath. Feige was present at the Saturn Awards to receive the first Stan Lee World Builder Award, celebrating the film worlds he's built.
The clip, with all its references to Marvel Cinematic Universe, foreshadows movies that did not even exist at the time. This clip will be one of the many special features of the upcoming "Infinity Saga" DVD set, which should include all the "Avengers" films leading up to this year's box-office box office.
Recently, Marvel's film universe wooed controversy when Spider-Man was ousted from the MCU after Disney and Sony failed to negotiate an agreement that would keep the webslinger in their limits. But Feige and his Marvel studios are ahead with enough MCU titles to make you turn your head, from "Black Widow" to "The Eternals," "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" and "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse" from Madness "to" Thor: Love and Thunder "and, of course, to" Black Panther II. "All are about to be released over the next few years.
The Saturn Awards, which honored Feige this weekend, are presented annually by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantastic Films and Horror, for outstanding work in making genre films.
