The parents of Otto Warmbier, the American deceased after his return from North Korea, will meet Trump at the White House

The parents of Otto Warmbier, the 22-year-old American student who died shortly after returning from North Korea, are going to dinner at the White House on Saturday with President Donald Trump.

Warmbier, who has been imprisoned in North Korea for more than a year, died after returning to the United States in an insensitive state of mind in June 2007 – just days after US officials got his release and have returned to his family in Ohio.

Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years of forced labor in March 2016 after being accused of attempting to steal a propaganda poster at his hotel in Pyongyang during his visit to the country. The details of his detention and what led to his insensitive awakening are still unknown.

In December 2018, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that Warmbier's parents, Fred and Cindy Warmbier, were entitled to $ 500 million compensation against the North Korean government led by Kim Jong One for the death of their son.

"We are grateful to the United States for having a fair and open court system so that the world can see that Kim's regime is legally and morally responsible for Otto's death," the family said in a statement.
