The announcement of the new Apple Watch Series 5 titanium (or rather its confirmation, given the constant rumor), is good news. Yes, it is another expensive luxury material related to a product whose life is very limited. But it's also a step in the right direction from Apple, which offers premium business options that deliver tangible benefits to users.
The integration of gold in the first Apple Watch was, after all, a simple PR operation. The Ultimate Edition launched ceramic models offer increased scratch resistance compared to aluminum or stainless steel, although the ceramic is still far from the ideal timepiece material because of its cost and its (relative) fragility.

For these reasons, in my opinion, of all the non-aluminum material choices for the Apple Watch, titanium is the most appropriate, especially considering the general price range of the device. And even if it is a luxury material, it will fly much further under the radar than something like the Apple Watch Edition in solid gold.
Unfortunately, Apple's premium titanium pricing with the new 5 Series remains difficult to recommend for functionality reasons only. The new Apple Watch Edition Series 5 starts at $ 799 titanium or $ 400 above the Apple Watch base. This means you could ruin your first 5 series and buy another brand new model for the same amount. It is still cheaper than the basic price of ceramics of $ 1,299. In the hope, the vast scale of production and influence of Apple can help reduce the cost of this super useful material in the future.
