LOS GATOS, Calif. (AP) – Netflix announced that it would begin broadcasting the 180 episodes of "Seinfeld" in 2021, earning an extremely popular addition to its library as the battle for viewers warms.

Netflix Inc. has entered into an agreement with Sony Pictures Television for the streaming of the Emmy Award-winning television comedy, the last episode of which was broadcast in 1998. The terms of the contract have not been published.

The agreement on "Seinfeld" comes after Netflix announced in June the loss of its most popular TV show, "The Office." Netflix will still keep the show for more than a year, but NBC will not extend the license further. The streaming service of NBCUniversal will be launched in 2020.

Netflix will face even stronger competition in November, when Apple and Disney will launch their own streaming services a few days later.
