NBCUniversal unveiled its new streaming Peacock service earlier in the day and, with the list of books available from its launch, two major new series have been announced: Battlestar Galactica restart from Mr. Robot Creator Sam Esmail and one Saved by the gong the comeback.

Details are rare on both series, but a Saved by the gong The recovery has been going on for years. NBCUniversal confirms the original actors Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez will be part of this new restart, but we do not know exactly who will lead the series or what it will be. In 2009, Jimmy Fallon gathered a number of members of the original cast on Tonight's show, and they met again in 2015 for Fallon. It seems that goodwill has existed for a while (well, except for Dustin Diamonre), it was just a matter of finding the right way to bring back the show.

As for Battlestar Galactica, the original series launched in 1978 and was followed by a short-term series, but the most popular adaptation of Battlestar Galactica arrived in 2003 with the permission of Ronald D. Moore. The series was redesigned as an allegory of the post-9/11 world, addressing issues such as the war on terror, and was held in 2009 with great success from critics.

Since then, a continuation or restart of Battlestar Galactica has been in the works, but none has materialized. Universal put a feature film restart in development in 2009 with Bryan Singer originally to lead, and more recently Francis Lawrence (Hunger Games: The Embrasement) came to the helm of the project in 2016.

With the news that Mr. Robot and Back home Esmail creator is executive producing a new Battlestar Galactica restart, it's safe to say that iteration of the Battlestar the film is probably dead.

It is unclear whether the two Battlestar and Saved by the gong will be ready in time for the launch of Peacock in April 2020, but they will be joined by another unlikely restart: Punky Brewster. This 1980s comedy revival of a girl raised by a foster parent is going to be seen Sun Moon Frye taking over his titular role, focusing on the main character in adulthood.
