A New Jersey man whose death threats resulted in the evacuation of a Florida hotel was stopped by police after police officers electrocuted him while he was delivering a soda .

The Daytona Beach Police Service tweeted that the unidentified man had been arrested after a stalemate on Saturday.

The Ocean Breeze Beach Club Hotel was evacuated as a precautionary measure during the clash.

According to the WFTV television channel in Orlando, police shocked the man with a Taser after he opened the door to get the soda he had requested.

Deputy Chief Jakari Young told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that witnesses had seen the man hold something green. WFTV reports that it was a dummy grenade.

Young said that the man was David Allen from Atlantic City, New Jersey, and that he had been staying at the hotel for two days.

"He spoke a lot, but it was very delusional, irrational [such as] he is the messiah, "said the deputy chief.
