It's happened at the end.
Quarterback David Moore and central Michigan gave it all in Miami (Florida) on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium in a 17-12 loss.
The CMU dropped to 2-2 during the season while the Hurricanes improved their record.
DeeJay Dallas scored a goal to score the first touchdown of the game. The race ended in a fourth goal and a second effort to make their way into the end zone.
The Chippewa offensive proved promising at times during the first period.
Moore was able to throw the ball around the field and put his teammates in scoring position. He was able to hit JaCorey Sullivan and Tyrone Scott over the center at different times in the first half.
The CMU scored their first points on the road this season thanks to safety as Jacques Bristol sent Miami quarterback Jarren Williams back to the end zone.
This piece came after the Chippewas thought they had gained security a few pieces before. Robi Stewart hit Williams hard in the end zone. The ball, which was judged live, was recovered by the Hurricanes.
The review showed that Williams' arm was going ahead and decided to make a legal pass before.
The faults hurt CMU in the first half and have largely broken the momentum. Moore was fired at the end of the first quarter and fumbled when the Chippewa were driving near the red zone.
Towards the end of the second quarter, Moore was sacked from his blind side and escaped when CMU seemed about to score a touchdown and potentially take the lead before half-time.
Moore was sacked during the Chippewas' first practice in the first period, which blocked him. Miami had a 7-2 lead at intermission at halftime.
The Hurricanes went out and scored a touchdown – a 6-yard pass from Williams to K.J. Osborn – with 10:45 to play in the third quarter.
CMU was able to reduce the advance in Miami by 9 points by the end of the penultimate quarter. Ryan Tice, who had missed 54 yards earlier, scored 55 yards. The kick was the longest of his career.
Bubba Baxa has returned the favor on the next disc. After the Hurricanes stalled in the red zone, Baxa attempted a 27-yard effort and missed. But Kyron McKinnie-Harper, a freshman, ran into the kicker.
After the penalty, Baxa was able to convert the 22 yards and extend Miami 's lead to 17-5.
On the ensuing run, the Chippewa collected 55 yards in 17 games, aided by four penalties in the red zone. Moore was able to hit the ball in a quarterback about one foot from the goal line.
The score brought the score down to 17-12 with 3:24 to play in regulation.
CMU still had 39 seconds to play, but Moore launched his first interception of the season with six seconds to go for Miami to win.
The Chippewas will face their great rival Western Michigan to fight for the Victory Cannon next Saturday at Waldo Stadium.
