COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) – The Texan student of A & M, who had been hit by an alleged intoxicated driver while she was returning home with friends, has died, her family said.
Carly Beatty was rushed to a Houston hospital after being hit while she was crossing Texas Avenue at College Station early in the morning of Sunday, September 15th. Pedro Puga, 17, of Bryan admitted to taking coconut and Xanax before driving the car. Beatty hit.
On Sunday, September 22, the family issued the following statement about Beatty's death:
"On September 14, 2019, our daughter Carly Beatty, a 19-year-old second-year student at Texas A & M College Station University, was a hit and run victim while she was returning home. at home at a friend's house with his roommates. After undergoing numerous surgeries and saving lives, Carly lost the battle to recover from her injuries today. Words can not describe our grief and our sense of loss.
Looking to the heavens, we know that Carly's life touched a lot. A kind and generous girl, loved by her family, including her mother, father and two older brothers growing up in Frisco, Texas, as well as by her extended family and friends. She loved her church, sisterhood Kappa Delta and was a staff member of the Freshman Leadership Organization ("FLOC") at A & M. Her love for animals led her to save many homeless pets, to volunteer at the SPCA and to study veterinary science at A & M. Carly's cheerful and loving spirit will be missed by many.
We are deeply touched by all of you who have reached out to our family with compassion and support during this difficult time. We are deeply grateful and hope that you will join us in celebrating Carly's life at her memorial service. Date and time to announce.
KBTX reported on Saturday that the suspect was arrested again last week after the police added extra charges to the case. Click here to see this report.
