A young Texas footballer collapses and dies in the arms of a twin brother

A Texas footballer, a high school student, collapsed and died in the arms of his twin brother while he was playing with a tag Friday night, his family announced.

Deshaud Williams, 16, defensive striker of the Lewisville High School junior football team, was running Friday night with his family and friends on a parking lot when he announced to his twin brother, Dashaud, that He had lost his breath.

"We started jogging a bit more and he was like" Da, I can not breathe, "Dashaud told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

"I was like," you're good "Come on, let's go home." And he said, "I can not breathe. I'm about to lose consciousness. "And I rushed to him and he fell to his knees and fell on his back," said Dashaud.

Dashaud immediately called the police and help arrived a few minutes later, according to a GoFundMe account created by his family. The teenager was pronounced dead in the arms of his twin while traveling to the hospital, the family said.

A statement from the Lewisville Police Department said that an autopsy was underway and that there was no sign of foul play. His family suspects cardiac arrest, even though he was judged healthy by a physical person at school earlier this year.

His mother, Razel Sheppard, described her son's untimely death as "a great mystery".

"He was never sick, he was a healthy kid," she told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. "Let's hope that (we will) get answers."

According to the family's GoFundMe page, Deshaud was a student of honor who worked at a pizzeria to save money on a car and dreamed one day to become a chef.

"He was a hard-working, reliable, kind, kind and caring young man, with a bright future," said the page. "It was a nice giant, a brother, a son and a grandson with a sweet voice [who] loved playing football and Fortnite. "

On Sunday night, dozens of people gathered in a park in Lewisville to release red balloons in the teen 's honor.

"Today, our hearts are broken.Maintain the Fighting Farmer community in your prayers as we mourn the loss of a student athlete," said one declaration of Lewisville Football.
