On Friday, passengers were stopping in an American Airlines flight between Phoenix and Minneapolis when a man at the back began to announce to others that he was coked. His statement was apparently not of the pleasant coked variety. It was more the kind panicked, quirky, of this type about to become weird.
This is not the kind of behavior you want suspended in the air in a metal tube. Especially when the guy knocks seats, screams and threatens other passengers. He also did not help when he locked himself in a smoking bathroom, shouting through the door that "you're all screwed up".
As the flight attendants tried to persuade him, the pilot announced an emergency landing in Denver for "a security problem at the back".
A few minutes before landing, the guy came back excited in a restless state. The police were called to the ground. The guy reacted by pulling a seal and trying to hit another passenger. As reported by the TMZ news collection service, he was "super aggro".
The man was handcuffed and tied to a stretcher. He shouted that the handcuffs were too tight and threatened to kill police and paramedics. "I'm going to kill you!" He shouted repeatedly.
But the officers who responded took a rather gentle approach. Instead of settling the guy with the range of crimes available to disrupt a robbery, they simply took him to a hospital.
For the moment at least, no charges have been laid and the police are simply treating her as a medical incident.
