A man died after being struck by train 4 at Kingsbridge Road subway station in the Bronx on Monday.
The FDNY said that he had answered at 8 am and found two people on the tracks. An adult man was declared dead at the scene, while the other person was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with minor injuries. First responders also treated two subway passengers who jumped on the tracks to help, said a spokeswoman for FDNY.
An NYPD spokesman confirmed that the other injured person was a five-year-old girl. PIX 11 reports that it was about his father: "The authorities announced that the man had thrown himself in front of a No. 4 train to Manhattan at Kingsbridge Road Station while he was holding his 5-year-old daughter … a picture provided to PIX11 The new watch is alert and apparently in tears as an FDNY official took him to the scene. "
The metro service along the 4th had delays this morning after the incident:
Service 4 is suspended between Woodlawn and Burnside Av, while New York police conduct an investigation after someone has been hit by a train on Kingsbridge Rd. Expect delays.
