Three sailors assigned to the USS George H.W. A Bush aircraft carrier was killed last week in various incidents, officials said Monday.

The carrier's commander, who is docked at the Norfolk shipyard in Virginia, announced the deaths in a message posted Monday on the ship's Facebook page.

"It is with a heavy heart that I can confirm the loss of three sailors last week in separate and unrelated incidents of apparent suicide. My heart is broken, "said Captain Sean Bailey in this announcement.

The crew members who killed themselves last week are the third, fourth and fifth sailors assigned to the ship to commit suicide in a two-year period, Bailey said in his statement.

Bailey urged the sailors on board to make suggestions on how to end the series of suicides.
