Emmy Award winner Rick and Morty animation producer J. Michael Mendel died at the age of 54 with his wife, Emmy's winning casting director Juel Bestrop (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Life in pieces), revealing The Hollywood journalist that he died of natural causes at their home in Studio City on Sunday night.
Although Mendel started his career on the side of the real action movie (Radio News, Big, Jerry Maguire), it is his work with animation that will define his career. In 1989, he would move from the post-production supervisor to the position of director of FOX.
