The deceased man had underlying health problems, but no other details regarding the case were published.

The state said it was working with public health officials from other states to gather information on the effects of electronic cigarettes on this type of disease.

"We are coordinating an action to fight this epidemic, so families can avoid such tragic results," said Governor Kelly.

To date, nine vapor inhalation related deaths have been reported in the United States – two in California, two in Kansas, and one in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, and Oregon. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are 530 confirmed and probable cases of lung lesions related to electronic cigarettes as of September 17.

This was the ninth confirmed case of vaping-related illness in Kansas, including both deaths. The cases are between 17 and 67 years old. All were hospitalized in accordance with a state declaration and two remain in the hospital.

Patients used a combination of products and devices. Some only report nicotine to steam, others use THC, a cannabinoid product, others only use CBD and a combination of THC and nicotine.

Dr. Lee Norman, Secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, will testify Wednesday before the US Parliament's Subcommittee on Trade and Energy Monitoring and Investigations on the effects of Electronic cigarettes.
Some have started storing vaping in the United States while a federal ban is looming

"Electronic cigarettes are not regulated, which means we do not know what they contain," Norman said in his statement on Monday. "And, what worries me a lot, is that in the midst of all these reported diseases, the number of young people who use them is important."

Governor Kelly urged residents of her state to follow the advice of the CDC and stay away from the products of the electronic cigarette, while the investigation still focuses on what causes the disease.

People who become sick usually have cough, shortness of breath, nausea, chest pain and some people vomit, have abdominal pain and fever.

If you think you are sick and you are vaporizing, be sure to go to the doctor immediately.
