The defense used the interview as a ground for requesting the change of venue and the cancellation of the trial. Both motions were denied, reported the Dallas Morning News.
Kemp herself, a veteran of the prosecutor's office, judged the prosecutor even harder than others.
Guyger, a former Dallas officer, is being tried for the shooting death of Botham Jean, who was in his own apartment when he passed away.
The former officer told the authorities that she had taken her apartment for his after a long period of work and considered him a burglar.
Some questioned Guyger's request, noting that there were clear differences in the decor of the two apartments.
The 2018 murder of John, an accountant from St. Lucia, provoked protest days in Dallas, as the public waited three days after the incident for the police officer to be charged.
The judge started the day by confiscating someone's cell phone after starting to play music in the hearing room, a violation of the ban on electronic devices.
