Apple has released three major new operating system updates today, following the release of iOS 13 for iPhone and iPod last week. iPadOS brings the changes and features of iOS 13 to the iPad, as well as a plethora of new tablet-specific features since the iPad's operating system is the only one of its kind. officially removed from the iPhone for the first time. iOS 13.1 fixes many bugs and brings some features to iPhone originally planned for iOS 13. Share ETA in Maps

There is now an "Share ETA" button in Apple Maps when you navigate with instructions. By tapping on it, you will get a sharing sheet allowing you to send your status to a friend, partner, family member – anyone who needs to know your ETA.

Major changes in iPadOS

A separation of iOS

The iPad ignored the launch of iOS 13 in anticipation of iPadOS, which received the version number 13.1 to coincide with the iOS update that was also available today.

iPadOS is a branch of iOS 13 specific to the iPad. That's what we had recommended in previous reviews of iPad when we found that iOS lacked a robust tablet operating system.

That said, almost everything we wrote in our iOS 13 review and in the notes here on iOS 13.1 also applies to iPadOS 13.1.

Extended multitasking

In iPadOS, you can now view more than one window in the same application with the Browse on or split view – or you can place the same application in multiple spaces. In addition, Apple has added an App Exposé view to analyze all the windows of a given application.

Widgets on the home screen

Apple made some changes to the home screen in iPadOS. They are not as dramatic as we would like to see it, but they basically boil down to two things: the layout has been changed to allow more apps per page and you can place widgets on the screen. Android type home.
