The IBF welterweight champion, Errol Spence, hopes that a union with the WBA champion, Manny Pacquiao, will take place at some point in 2020.

This Saturday night, Spence will face WBC World Champion Shawn Porter at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

In March, Spence dominated four-division world champion Mikey Garcia in twelve sets. After the fight, he called Pacquiao in the ring and called for a fight between them.

A few months later, Pacquiao came back when he decided that Keith Thurman, still unbeaten, would win the WBA title.

If Spence wins his fight, it would put them in line of sight in a unification of three titles.

Pacquiao intends to fight at least twice in 2020, but most insiders do not expect Spence to be his next fight.

"I think I'm the best fighter in the welterweight and boxing division," Spence told PBC. "It's time to prove it. Timing is everything. I will have the fights I need to prove that I am the best in the world.

"To pass Shawn Porter with the performance that I know can play against him, then get the fight I want after that is the fight of Manny Pacquiao.

"The fight with Manny Pacquiao definitely takes place; I think this will happen next year. Maybe in the middle or at the end of next year, but I think that will certainly happen. The fans want that to happen, there is too much money out there to prevent this from happening, there are too many straps on the lines to make it happen too. "
