What to expect from Apple in October

[ad_1]

There is no guarantee that Apple will host an event in October this year, but it's now officially autumn. Between the announcements and many rumors, there is a huge amount of material and services that we expect to see published very soon.

It's a curious thing, but we all expect Apple to hold an event in October that will see the release of new iPad Pro models – and maybe we should not. Maybe Apple will do exactly that, there are certainly reasons to suspect it, but the real evidence goes in several directions.

This includes the possibility that no, Apple will not have an event in October. Over the past eight years, the event has been held six times in October. And only in three of these mentioned the iPad.

In addition, Apple publishes so much that nowadays, products that previously made their debut at an event saw the light of day in a press release. Apple had done it earlier in 2018 when it wanted its Apple TV + event to focus solely on this service, for example, and we've now seen repeated releases very discreetly . And he did it with two versions of MacBook Pro this year as well.

Apple TV + is launched in November and it is difficult to see Apple dedicate another event to this, as it is unlikely that there are any shows that we do not know and it is difficult to find all these talents for a rebroadcast .

However, it is easier to see Apple do what it did when launching the iPhone in September and start a new event with a final push for Apple TV +.

It is still possible that the Apple TV hardware is updated, probably with a new faster processor. However, if this happens, the performance of Apple Arcade will be more visible than those of Apple TV +.

Nevertheless, if the new TV service is what prompted Apple to stop its hardware launches earlier this year, new hardware could be a great anchor point to talk about the service again in October.

What we know is coming

However, we are in the increasingly unusual position of knowing at least some of Apple's future products, with the exception of the actual release date.

More specifically, we know that the Mac Pro arrives in the fall and we know when autumn is coming. We also know that Apple's definition of any season is pushed to the limit when we talk about an exit schedule.

The next Mac Pro

The next Mac Pro

Look for the official date of the end of autumn and you will be surprised to find that there are two differences. Most of us, probably unknowingly, observe what is called the weather seasons, which means that the winter officially begins on December 1 when we put on our big coats.

However, there is an astronomical season, related to the positioning of the Earth and the sun, or possibly between Apple and its manufacturing cycle. It might be difficult if Apple wanted to declare this astronomical date for the end of autumn, Saturday, December 21, but it is possible.

There is also the fact that Apple has officially announced that production of the Mac Pro will soon begin in Texas. It's production rather than shipping, but Apple does not store more than it needs to.

Plus, every time the product is finally delivered, it's hard to imagine that Apple is hosting another Mac Pro-based event. Still, this machine could benefit from the promotion of some stage exposure.

We also know that Adobe Photoshop arrives on the iPad this year. And we are already approaching the stage where, if your company has not yet booked its Christmas party, you should bring it to the next meeting.

Apple will not organize an event only for Photoshop.

Not enough

Yet we are here with many things that are great but have already been covered in events and do not seem to justify another.

Which means it's easier to see an event in which they are all covered. Tim Cook could make a statement on Apple TV +, including new material. And then, he announces the release date of Mac Pro in the same way he had done with Apple TV + at the iPhone event.

None of this could really make a strong event, but based on what the supply chain tells us, there is something that could.

It is quite certain that new models of iPad Pro are coming, and at least it is said regularly, they will arrive in October.

Apple likes to show the thickness - sorry,

Apple likes to show the thickness – sorry "slimming" – of its new devices.

According to their rumors, whenever they come, they will use the same triple-purpose camera system that was introduced with the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max in September.

This is perhaps the least certain of all expectations regarding Apple's next hardware. But now that we have seen what this camera system can bring, we would not be surprised if Apple was showing us incredible photos – and that Adobe then demonstrates that it was working with Photoshop on iPad.

All this would mean that, until now, such a hypothetical event would also be very focused on professionals, which seems to appeal to Apple this year. There would be the Mac Pro device that we knew was coming, there would be the iPad Pro of which we are pretty much certain.

And then there could be the device that would be pretty compelling but not as strong as the iPad Pro models.

Macbook Pro

If Apple organizes an event in October, it will take something new. Even though we did not know the iPad Pro models and did not suspect the three-camera system, it does not appear that they would do any significant splashing because they probably would not be as drastically altered as those of last year. .

That said, few expected the Apple iPhone event in September to be significant and no one expected the magnitude of the difference that a third goal could do.

And there is room for a surprise on the iPad Pro – we do not really expect to see it, but an obvious next move for Apple is to integrate OLED displays to these devices.

Macbook Pro. We want one too.

Macbook Pro. We want one too.

If it's unlikely we'll get this this year, we'd have the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Among the past six events, Apple unveiled four times a form of MacBook Pro or MacBook Air. This year, rumors, mostly backed by reliable sources in the supply chain, have signaled the imminent release of a 16-inch MacBook Pro. The MacBook Air has already been updated in 2019.

As with previous iPad changes, this increase in screen size should result in a reduction in the frame around the display. This screen is supposed to be an LCD – not OLED – with 3,072 pixels by 1,920, and would actually be 16.4 inches.

With this screen inserting into the same casing as the current 15-inch model, it would be logical for Apple to abandon this current model. However, the price of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro is expected to start at over $ 3,000. The current smallest model starts at $ 2,399.

Nevertheless, if the cheaper price is the only advantage of the 15-inch MacBook Pro compared to the 16-inch, its days are certainly numbered. This number will be only a lot more than the 31 that are in October.

pickings

Whatever the event, and more recently, with a series of Apple press releases, there is always the same cycle. Previously, there are predictions, and then there is a calculation, a count of what Apple has chosen not to disclose.

Sometimes it's just a way to excuse a failed prediction – Apple would have pulled out the car, but they could not have it in blue – but sometimes it's more convenient.

Like today, while there are two problems that are so close to being known that Apple might as well have announced them.

One of them is Apple Tags, a competitor similar to Tile to help you find your misplaced devices. Since the internal iOS code contains many references, the new Motion coprocessor seems to help with this idea.

Then come the reverse or bilateral charge cases that have not materialized in the iPhone 11 Pro or the iPhone 11 Pro Max, but which may be present and disabled.

This is disputed, but the disassembly of the new iPhones shows at least one unidentified circuit board and wiring.

If something is hiding in iPhones, you can imagine that it was disabled because it was not ready in time. In this case, you can also imagine that Apple's active in a software.

However, all of this is tumbling in the same kind of pious speculation as AppleInsider abhors.

So, let's summarize the facts and talk about the likelihood that we would see some products in October – and if there will be an event.

Run the odds

The release of the Mac Pro in October is possible. The Apple website seemed to be the only incident that would have made the announcement of his arrival prematurely – although it was announced in September.

Probability of release of October: 30% chance

Despite all that we should not assume, October is now the month of iPad Pro, there are certainly models to come and the time is right to take them out.

Probability of exit of October: probability of 80%

The 16-inch MacBook Pro is also coming, and reports have indicated that October. Given this and Apple's history of discovering MacBook models during this month, the odds are enormous.

Probability of release in October: 80%

Which leaves smaller choices, like Apple tags, and new Apple TV hardware

Probability of release October: Apple Tags 30%, new Apple TV 10%

Whatever the likelihood of this happening or any of the features provided, there is the fact that Apple has a lot to gain.

This includes elements that, in other circumstances, could have been tentpole-type products, one of the main factors allowing an event to take flight. The Mac Pro would have been that, but we have already seen it. Apple TV + could surely have been, but this was shown to us at the beginning of the year.

There is this whole list of hardware and service versions that Apple could create. There is also the fact that most of the biggest have already had their moment in the spotlight.

Event or no event

In general, Apple seems to like organizing an event with a device that has undergone a form factor change, such as the revised version of the iPad Pro from last year.

It has happened that this change relates less to the case, but an element of it, for example when the iMac 5K came out in 2014. The case was identical to that of several previous models, but it is not the case. was acting a very important hardware update. .

We expect this for the MacBook Pro, but not for the iPad Pro or Apple TV hardware.

If Apple participates in an event in October, the month is already competitive. For example, Microsoft will launch an updated Surface on October 2, while Google will release Pixel 4 on October 15.

The Microsoft event is a Tuesday and Google's one on a Wednesday. Apple preferred Tuesdays for its events in October 2011, 2012, 2013 and again last year. But for every two years of October event, it's a Thursday.

There are five Thursdays in October, and Apple tends to announce events between one week and ten days in advance.

So, we will not know for sure that there will be an event until Apple says so, and we will not be sure until several weeks before the month of October.

However, although this is not supported by an internal source or similar to a supply chain, we assert that the probability for Apple to organize an October event is even 50%. In fact, the main factor in favor of an event lies in the large number of articles that Apple must publish and we have already seen signs. But Apple still chooses very precisely which items to display at once.
