Google Announces Android Go Based on Android 10

Today, Google has officially removed Android Go based on Android 10, the latest version of the operating system specifically designed for entry-level phones. The new operating system is smaller, faster and better than ever.

Android Go is designed to work on phones with 1.5 GB of RAM or less. Such phones are very popular in developing markets where, for most people, their first (and only) connection to the Internet will be a smartphone based on Android Go.

These phones are usually incredibly cheap, because Android Go does not require high-end hardware to work properly.

In addition, "lite" applications designed for Android Go are typically much smaller and thinner than their "normal" counterparts. This, interestingly, makes them attractive even for people who have high-end phones, as has shown the popularity of Files by Google.

What's new in Android Go based on Android 10

As expected, the main changes made to Android Go compared to Android 10 are that it is faster and smaller. According to Google, this new version of Android Go is now the lightest version of the operating system ever used, occupying about half as much space as Android 7 Nougat. The operating system taking up less space is very important because many Android Go devices only have 8 GB of internal storage.

The system is also faster – Google indicates that applications are running 10% faster on Android Go based on Android 10 than the Go variant based on Android 9 Pie.

A major new feature of Android Go based on Android 10 is Adiantum (not to be confused with Adamantium). Adiantum is an encryption protocol specially developed by Google to work on entry-level phones.

Traditional encryption requires a fairly powerful treatment. Therefore, running normal encryption protocols on Android Go phones would cause a lag or other problems. Adiantum secures the encryption of these phones without overloading the system.

Finally, Google is working on the effectiveness of individual applications running on Android Go and based on Android 10, including YouTube Go, Google Lens, Gallery Go (based on Google Photos) and, of course, the popular File by Google . The company claims that applications are now 50% smaller than on previous versions of Android Go.

Since the launch of Android Go, more than 1,600 different entry-level phones have been sold with the operating system, with prices as low as $ 27. Hope that Android Go based on Android 10 will only increase these numbers.
