"It's a pity that we are sitting here at home and that we can not even sit at home. A child can not play, "said the girl's grandmother at Chicago's ABC station, WLS. It's my baby's birthday, and for her to take her birthday, she's having a basketball game today, she was looking forward to that. "

Blackful's grandfather, Dennis Hunt, told the station that he was standing outside on the porch when two people approached him and opened fire.

One of the bullets then would have gone through a window and hit Kentavia at the back of her head while she was sitting in front of the family's computer, according to WLS.

Derevyanny said she could not confirm where Kentavia had been shot because they had not yet received her body.
