As if on wheels, Epic released a new patch for Fortnite: Battle Royale. Today's v10.40 update is now operational on all platforms. It introduces another new Rift Zone into the game, launches a new limited-time mode called Zone Wars and makes some weapon and object adjustments. Here is an overview of the release notes.
First, a rift zone transformed the dilapidated neighborhood near Pleasant Park into a starry suburb. Not only has the area been revamped, but shooting stars are landing there as frequently. According to Epic, you can destroy these stars to obtain "powerful objects", including a "weapon never seen before".
A new Solo LTM called Zone Wars is also in progress. Epic describes it as "a simulation of the end-of-game scenario in Battle Royale – but with a condensed mobile zone". There is also a new playlist called The Combine, which allows you to reach the end as quickly as possible while destroying targets.
This week's patch includes an assortment of weapon settings. The Batarang's explosive Batman crossover event now has an audio visualizer icon for nearby signals, and Shield Bubbles now bounces off the other players when they are launched against them. The bouncer trap has not been defeated as well; you can find reservations, vending machines, llamas or loot on the ground.
The patch also implements match changes previously announced by Epic. The game should now better put you in touch with players of similar level. As part of these game changes, Epic will present bots to the game from next season.
Finally, as Season 10 draws to a close, Epic is hosting an XP Double Weekend in the game. From September 27th to September 30th, you'll earn twice as much XP as normal for every game you play, allowing you to cross the last levels of the Battle Pass.
