Genovation GXE, the 800 horsepower electric corvette, sets a new speed record

In 2017, Genovation set a new speed record for a street electric vehicle. Then, the electrified C6 Corvette reached 336.3 kilometers per hour. It was not until early 2018 that a production version debuted. Although deliveries should begin soon, if they have not already done so, the Genovation car crew has decided to return to the Kennedy Space Center's Shuttle Landing facility for another speed record attempt.

Certainly, there are faster gasoline cars that set their own records, but Genovation and electric vehicles are running at the pace of their own drums. The description under the video that highlights the record record of the electrified Corvette indicates that the crew had to cancel its first attempt because of the rain. However, even when battling huge crosswinds, Genovation managed to set a new record. Although it seems that Genovation has not finished defining records, according to the enigmatic conclusion of the description.

Like other electric vehicles, the power produced by the GXE is at the expense of autonomy. The car, one of 75 copies sold to potential customers, contains a battery of 60 kWh which gives the electric Vette a reduced autonomy (209 km). However, the twin-engine powertrain delivers an impressive torque of more than 800 horsepower (597 kW) and over 700 foot-pounds (949 Newton-meters). Oh, and the car has an almost perfect 50:50 weight distribution, so that's it.

Genovation's cryptic prediction of future results leads us to wonder what the company plans to do. Could the GXE be ready to set a new faster top speed record? Or did Genovation take a different direction now that it broke its previous record? It's hard to say, but as deliveries to customers are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year, the company may be ready to make more waves.
