Charging goaltender Melvin Gordon ends his career.
He will report to the team Thursday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL.
Gordon will not play this week.
According to reports received earlier Wednesday, the end of Gordon's battle was near and PFT repeated that Gordon must be on the list of players for eight matches to meet the final year of his contract as a free agent.
The Chargers are 13th in attack, and Austin Ekeler is their best forward with 38 runs for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
