Thomas Cook, the London-based travel company that had hundreds of thousands of customers around the world, collapsed this week and many fans who bought tickets for the next four NFL games in London find themselves without answers – and without tickets.
The league issued a statement saying it could not do much for those who bought tickets through the late Thomas Cook.
"We continue to focus on the impact on NFL fans who bought tickets for this year's London Games through Thomas Cook," the statement said. "Unfortunately, NFL UK has not received any details about Thomas Cook's ticket buyers, and NFL UK has not received payment for tickets sold by Thomas Cook. NFL UK is not able to reimburse tickets, travel or accommodation purchased from Thomas Cook. "
The NFL said that people who bought tickets through Thomas Cook can "ask for the opportunity to redeem tickets from the NFL UK," but that does not comfort much: these fans have already paid high prices for expensive tickets to NFL games in London, and now they are simply told that they can "ask for the opportunity" to pay high prices again to get the same tickets that they have already paid.
This is an ugly situation for travelers all over the world, and NFL fans are among those who are being fooled.
