Amber Guyger Trial: The accusation is based on the murder of Botham Jean

Amber Guyger killed Botham Jean on September 6, 2018 in his apartment located one floor above his unit. She told the police that she was thinking of entering her apartment and seeing a burglar.

The prosecution sat his pleas on the fourth day of the trial. The defense should start presenting its arguments on Friday morning; the judge announced that the trial would continue Saturday. Guyger, who was fired from the department after the shooting, is expected to stand at the helm.

Prosecutors sought to show that Guyger had abandoned his efforts to save Jean after shooting him. She also missed many signs that she was on the wrong floor and in the wrong apartment the night of the shooting, the prosecution said.

The prosecution continued on Thursday to question witnesses about the differences between Guyger's and Jean's apartments in order to demonstrate that the ex-officer should have realized that she was in the wrong unit before opening fire.

The defense reacted by supporting witnesses on the similarities in the corridors leading to their apartments.

Attorney Jason Hermus put Det. Stephen Cleary at the helm to explain several pictures of both apartments. When questioned, he said that in Guyger's apartment was a wooden board displaying pictures hanging on the wall, a shelf in the corner and a small semicircular table with a vase of flowers against the wall.

The wall behind Guyger's couch was naked, as the pictures show.

The art of Jean's apartment had works of art on the wall behind the sofa, an ottoman and a rug in the living room and a workstation near the bar, said Cleary.

Texas Ranger Michael Adcock testified that a numerical analysis of Jean's apartment showed that Guyger could have seen the sofa on which Jean was sitting, as well as the wall art.

Jean was sitting on the couch in shorts, watching television and eating vanilla ice cream when Guyger came in through the front door, Hermus told the jury this week.

Several of Jean's neighbors said that they had not heard any police orders like "show me your hands" before hearing two shots.

Jean's neighbors also said to have heard and seen Guyger in the hallway after the shooting, on the phone, saying that she thought she was in her own apartment.

Jean died as a result of a gunshot wound in the chest and abdomen.
