The Seattle Seahawks have used George Fant in various roles over the past two seasons. He was the substitute for the left and right tacklers, and also played a handful of free kicks at the tight end, effectively serving as the sixth line player in the running game.
Now that the Seahawks have acquired Luke Willson – who is a better blocker than Nick Vannett – and Germain Ifedi's fierce fight, many believe that Fant should have a chance to compete for the job.
However, although Fant has not yet set a course or passed, head coach Pete Carroll is still very confident in his role this season and he does not seem to be taking over from Ifedi soon.

Fant is a solid blocker, but Ifedi protects him from the race. With Carroll's desire to attack the ground, it makes sense to use Ifedi as a starter.
Both Fant and Jamarco Jones will be taken into consideration if Ifedi's difficulties worsen or are injured, but for now, Seattle's offensive starting line will remain intact in the fourth week against Cardinals.
