A Delta Airlines agent was arrested on Thursday for allegedly stealing $ 300,000 at JFK airport, sources of public order said.
The officer, identified by sources as Quincy Thorpe, was arrested at his home in Brooklyn by the FBI for allegedly stealing the bag containing money during his shift on Tuesday, sources said. .
$ 300,000 was brought to Queens Airport by an armored car and is expected to be flown to Miami on a morning flight to the Delta, sources said.
The dough had been loaded into the flight with other baggage, but at one point it was removed from the plane before takeoff, according to sources.
Thorpe raised suspicions after announcing that he was sick sometime after the flight, sources said.
The stolen money remains missing, according to sources.
An FBI spokesman confirmed the bust in these terms: "We stopped a topic at his home earlier this morning in Brooklyn."
"Charges are pending and he is scheduled to appear in federal court in Brooklyn this afternoon," the spokesman said.
Airline operators are responsible for loading, unloading and transporting baggage and cargo to and from an aircraft.
"The alleged actions of this employee are unacceptable and in no way reflect the professionalism and values we expect from members of the Delta team," said a spokesman for Delta in a statement.
"We take this situation very seriously and work directly with the authorities as part of their investigation, as well as as part of an internal investigation."
He was scheduled to appear in Brooklyn federal court Thursday.
