Well that's sure time! After what seemed like an endless summer away from Gray Sloan – the fight was real – The anatomy of Gray finally fulfilled our prescription for the new episodes on Thursday, launching season 16 with an hour of mini-fast-forward that brought us from a marriage proposal to a surprise pregnancy, from a massive promotion to a new flirtation and from one defection to another hospital to … well, this recap. And now that you are here, read on; Before you note "Nothing stays attached to", we'll review all the big twists.
"I do not see myself forgiving someone, but myself at all times" | The episode started pretty much exactly where the season 15 finale ended. While Jo was coming for psychiatric treatment, Maggie and Station 19 Firefighters discovered that Jackson was helping a mountaineer named Mari to hold the rope that prevented her unconscious husband, Jai, from plunging into his death. Richard attended an AA meeting and complained that Catherine did not say a word when Bailey fired her, just as Meredith was learning from her lawyer that she was very likely not to lose her medical license and let alone go to jail. But Gray admitted, "I've done this long drama goodbye with my kids." About the beers, Link, not reassuring Alex that Jo would be better, admitted that he thought that "I'm not going to be happy." Amelia had dropped it. And at Gray Sloan, Bailey interrupted Leo's presentation to Alison to order Owen and Amelia to prepare for an imminent trauma. When he protested that Teddy 'had just had their baby, Bailey replied, "She is very cute. I still need you to come. Altman, you are excused. Left alone with the newborn and Leo, Teddy was about to cry for a nurse when Tom entered, aware that she and her baby had been reunited. It was fine, though. She will regret this decision one day, he says. "In that case, I'll always be there, because I'm in love with you. And in the meantime, we are friends. (I could not love Koracick anymore.)
"WE ARE NOT EVEN LEGALLY MARRIED" | A week later, while Alex was depositing Jo in a psychiatric facility where she was finally scheduled to undergo treatment, she stooped to become "another name on your list of mad women" and noted that, since they had never filed their marriage license, "You have an appointment, and I guess I say I love you enough so that I can understand if you want to take it." In one way or another, Alex did not say a word as she was going away. Back in Gray Sloan, while she was successfully operating Mari, Amelia explained – in a language that even the guys could understand – that she did not want to stop seeing Link, she just did not want to bury herself. She wanted them to go out together to get to know each other, thus breaking with her pattern of going too fast. In Teddy's hotel room, Owen found the new mom crying with Alison, who kept crying. "Come with me to the house," he pleaded. But no, she did not want to move into the house he had bought for Amelia. "It's not the way you and I are supposed to start our life together," Teddy said. She knew it in her soul. And his soul really preferred this hotel room? Maybe the best was not to ask him his soul as well many questions for the moment. "My soul needs a shower," she cried. At Gray Sloan, Jackson made the terrible mistake of asking Maggie how "they" were before she cooled down enough after their fight. In response, she accused him of "leaving in a car on an unknown road in the woods, surrounded by fog, bears and wolves!" Bears and wolves? Really? "I could hear them! She insisted. Meanwhile, as Richard slammed the door to ask for a medical application, Meredith was spending the day in court … and was missing her. She simply could not bring herself to follow the advice of her lawyer and be repentant. "She has three children," the lawyer finally said. "Do not throw her in jail!"
"TOM KORACICK IS MY PUNISHMENT" | A week later, Jai suddenly crashed, letting Jackson escape. Jackson wondered aloud if Mari was going to let him go. "In this metaphor," Maggie asked, "am I the thing that should just be thrown off a cliff now?" No, he replied. But maybe they were in a relationship. (Take a fork in, guys, they're ready.) Not far away, Bailey bumps into the roof when she learns that Catherine has given Tom responsibility for all her hospitals, making her a "chief of chiefs" . Catherine was silent when Bailey fired Richard, she was still pissed off. Now, she shouted, "my husband makes house calls as in 1965," and his marriage was in shambles. Despite this argument, an insolent DeLuca offered her services to Bailey, whom she had no choice but to do, despite the lack of staff, but she had no choice. A week later, Maggie informed Mer, Amelia and DeLuca that her breakup with Jackson was stuck. "I think I deserve better," she says, than someone who regularly abandons me for trees. "And hey, they were still friends. For his part, Jackson was quick to move on; he asked Station 19Vic, who seemed very open to the idea. Owen came to Gray Sloan in search of Teddy after committing – good God – such a mistake. "I proposed milking it," he confessed to Amelia. Yes, she had a blocked duct, but still. No, Owen. God no. During a therapy session with Alex, Jo read a letter in which she apologized for having lost the ability to receive the love that he offered. He also read to her a letter in which he admitted that he was afraid when she pushed him away. "You deserve someone who does not break like glass," said Jo, whose therapist reminded him that asking for help was a sign of strength, not weakness.
"I HATE MATERNITY LEAVE" | On dinner night, Amelia and Link had fun talking about her desire to have her first trio that led her to think about Private practice and a patient whose condition was very similar to Jai's. With a revealing rash in this case, Jai's doctors were able to understand that a large embolism was also responsible for his condition. They could potentially get him out of his coma! The next day, Jackson and Vic had an occasional hamburger appointment, during which they both admitted that they had just come out of a serious relationship and that they were so not the best place to start something new. But they heard each other so well, it was clear that they were the most absolutely start something new. While she was collecting garbage at the side of the road as part of her community service, Mer was spotted by the mother of the Zola school class. "I've always wondered why you've never seen yourself volunteering at school," Grandma said, "but now I understand." Sea was explaining what it means to be a mother at work when her supervisor shouted that she was not at Happy Hour. At Gray Sloan, Bailey came across Teddy, who was desperate to use her brain and who definitely did not like maternity leave. "I think I could be a terrible mother," she admitted. Nah, said Bailey. She also hated maternity leave and she was a wonderful mother. After being interviewed for the position of chief operating room at the Pacific Northwest General, Richard visited Alex to encourage him to run for office. Webber knew he was not going to get it. The interviewer "had practically called me grandfather," he noted. But if Alex had the concert, then he could hire Richard. He also had another brilliant idea: if Karev was worried about his marriage, he had to give Jo a reason to come home.
"I DO NOT WANT AN OUT" | A week later, while Mari had given up on Jai's awakening, ta-da! He did. When Jo came out of the treatment center after 30 days, Alex was waiting for her, freshly shaved and dressed in an elegant suit. "Bride me again, please," he said, kneeling down. "I do not want to output. You Free me an exit. Although she explained that she was not "magically arranged," he did not care. He wanted to like it sick and in good health. However, she accepted her proposal. In Teddy's hotel room, Owen announced that he had put his house on the market and that, until the sale, he had provided them with a suite at the hotel. Being a new mother is difficult, and she does not have to do it alone, he wanted her to know it. "Thank you for listing the house," she replied. At the hospital, Amelia approached Carina with hilarity, who was initially confused as to why. "Are you here for your pregnancy," she asked, "or just to ask for a three-in-one?" Amelia was there for that last reason, but … the first reason too. At the end of the episode, Maggie spotted Jackson with Vic and became colder than ice. Your business does not interest you, Maggie decided, because I do not like you and you do not like me, and we are not friends. Eventually, Catherine got stung when she discovered that Richard was going to work at PacNorth with Alex and Meredith got a text saying that – uh-oh – the medical board was will pursue the action against his license.
