Vape marijuana sales dive amid mysterious vaping deaths

The vaping crisis is a real buzzkill.

According to a new report, sales of marijuana products against the vape have dropped 60% in some states, as a result of a series of mysterious deaths among consumers of electronic cigarettes.

Vaping products are one of the fastest-growing segments of the legal marijuana industry, but have been hit hard after the number of vaping-related deaths reached 12 this week, according to Yahoo News.

According to data from New Frontier, an economic analysis firm that tracks the industry, the turnover of vaporization products has dropped by 15% in the country.

"This has an impact on consumer behavior," David Alport, owner of Bridge City Collective in Portland, Oregon, told Yahoo News.

Alport said its company had seen a 31 percent drop in sales of vapor cartridges in the last two weeks.

"People are worried and we are worried," he said.

Vaping products now account for one-third of the legal cannabis industry in the United States, representing sales of $ 9.6 billion between 2017 and 2019, according to New Frontier Data.

Oregon was the hardest hit, with a 62% drop in the vape market share.

Last week, the Food and Drug Administration announced the opening of a criminal investigation into the many deaths related to vaping.

New York became the first state to ban the sale of flavored electronic cigarettes and other vaping products with the exception of menthol and tobacco flavors last Tuesday.
