Retail Insider Claims Xbox Series X Can Cost $ 599

We’re probably about two weeks away from finally determining the price of the Xbox Series X, and it’s a boyfriend, the Xbox Lockhart / Series S, and as such the leaks are going to start piling up.

This one isn’t “official” in any way, and not the folks backing out a Monster Energy prize pool to determine the price of an Xbox Series X, but rather it comes from a source from. retail.

Game reporter / podcaster / host Alanah pearce was on Kinda Funny Xcast, and said she was DMed by someone working in retail who showed her a photo of their internal screen that gave a November release date for Series X, and he indicated that the price was $ 599.

Now, it’s possible that this is actually the price, it is possible that it is a placeholder (it is also possible that it is wrong, of course I trust Pearce, but who knows its source).

However, this corresponds to a few different factors.

Many have speculated that due to the power of the Xbox Series X, it would almost to have priced at $ 599, lest Microsoft lose too much money on each unit. My theory was that they would take that loss in order to try to match, if not reduce Sony this time around to $ 500, but then there’s the second part.

That would be the existence of the Xbox Series S. Microsoft recently removed the Xbox One X, which was priced new at $ 400. This leaves room for the low-powered S-series to potentially cost $ 400 while the X-series would cost $ 600. A $ 200 spread between them would make more sense to me than a simple $ 100 spread, which doesn’t seem like a big enough difference to warrant two consoles at all.

The next question is of course, is a price tag of $ 600 for the X Series a good idea?

It depends of course on Sony. If Sony also feels the need to set a price that high, then fine, we’ve got a kind of monopoly situation where the two consoles are just… very expensive, although Sony might be trying to slip their digital console in there to. $ 550 or something like that.

But what if Sony has a console, disc, or digital, priced at $ 500, and the Xbox Series X priced at $ 600? Even with the $ 400 S-Series, it seems like a disaster in the making, a mirror image of what happened with the launch of the Xbox One versus the PS4, which gave Sony a sales lead that ‘they never gave up. And with analysts already predicting that Sony will likely maintain its 2: 1 lead over last-gen sales when the PS5 takes on the X Series, a price differential of $ 100 would only amplify that. And of course, the final nail is that Microsoft is losing Halo Infinite as a launch title on top of everything else.

Hope this is not the final selling price of the console. Namely because I don’t want the PS5 as well cost $ 600 if they match, but just for the sake of the Xbox, a super high price at launch undermine by Sony is going to have an incredibly difficult launch.

Again, we should probably know more by the end of the month, but for now, it’s something to consider.
