Did you think Pearsons, of all families, could dodge the coronavirus?

It’s us Creator Dan Fogelman has confirmed that Season 5 of NBC’s highly moving and acclaimed family drama will address the current coronavirus pandemic.

“Yes on Covid”, Fogleman shared on twitter Sunday evening, in response to a fan’s question. “We have decided to tackle things head on. Very proud of @ThisIsUsWriters. “

Emmy-nominated cast member Sterling K. Brown told TVLine in June that the pandemic – among other recent and real topics – could affect his fictional family. “No. 1, there are thoughts going around the writers’ room about how and if to fight the pandemic, aren’t there? And then over the last month / five weeks, since [the tragic deaths of] Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, then George Floyd…, there’s now like, ‘How can we go about this too?’

Fogelman, responding to the wave of questions tweeted, also said there was no timeline to be announced for when production began, let alone when new episodes air. (It’s us Season 5 is slated to premiere this fall / “fall,” again airing Tuesdays at 9 / 8c.) But it fact claim the series was on track to “the same end. Same route to get there.

What else do we know about season 5? SKB told TVLine that there would be “a dig into Randall’s past, re-connected to his family” and prompting more “soul-searching”, while Chrissy Metz said in April: “We’re going to find out more. in depth … why [Kate] decided to… use a substance – hers being food – because she went through things we don’t yet know.

How do you think specifically It’s us will write in COVID? Will Kevin find it hard to cope with the lack of acting work or a difficult return to the set? Will Randall / Beth be stressed out about girls going back (or not) to school?
