Sharon Stone accuses ‘non-mask wearers’ of sister’s coronavirus diagnosis

Sharon Stone blamed her sister’s COVID-19 diagnosis on “non-maskers”.

“My sister Kelly, who already has lupus, now has COVID-19,” Stone said in an Instagram post on Sunday with photos she said was from her sister’s hospital room. “One of you who weren’t wearing a mask did this.”

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of the skin, joints, and internal organs.

Stone said her sister “didn’t have an immune system” and before she was diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, she had only been to the pharmacy.

“There’s no testing in her county unless you’re symptomatic,” and there is a five-day wait for the results, Stone wrote.

“Can you FACE THIS PIECE ALONE?” she asked. “Wear a mask! For you and the others. Please.”

Stone’s post had received nearly 6,000 comments as of Monday afternoon.

Actress Chelsea Handler commented: “Hope she’s okay. It’s so scary.”

Actresses Octavia Spencer and Debra Messing also responded.

Spencer commented with five prayer hand emojis, while Messing wrote, “Oh Sharon, I’m so sorry. So scary. I pray that she heals quickly.”

In July, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention asked Americans to wear masks to slow the spread of the virus.

“There is growing evidence that fabric face coverings help prevent people with COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others,” the CDC said.

Kelly Stone documented her treatment in videos posted to her Instagram page.

In a video uploaded on Sunday, she said she was taking the antiviral drug remdesivir and being given oxygen.

She also praised the frontline healthcare workers.

“I can’t believe what they have to do to take care of people like us and how they put themselves in the position of having to go into work … and be exposed to people with COVID and then go back to their families “she told me. “I am so grateful.”

In another video recorded from her hospital bed, she urged people to take the coronavirus seriously.

“Please know this is real. I am panting with every breath with oxygen,” said Kelly Stone. “Please do this for the people you love. Stay behind more tests, more masks, demand that everyone wear a mask. You never, ever want to feel that way.”
