WWE Raw Results, Recap, Reactions (August 17, 2020): Foreshadowing

[ad_1]

Bayley and Sasha stepped out before the women’s match to announce that Asuka was the Empress of Stupidity for thinking she would beat either one or the other at SummerSlam.

But, who should she face first?

Bayley said Sasha should face him first, then Sasha said Bayley should face him first, they went back and forth. But in a bit of foreshadowing, Sasha said that because Bayley was her best friend, she wanted her to go first, and Bayley agreed. Shayna and Asuka are out and Shayna first said that she will face the Raw Women’s Champion after the pay-per-view. Asuka then said that Shayna needs to work with her in the game tonight.

So the match started, and almost immediately Nia Jax walked through a section of plexiglass and attacked Baszler. They got into a fight in the back and Baszler left Asuka alone in the ring. Bayley said “No Kairi, No Shayna, No Chance!” and i love it so much. And my food froze a bit. The models attempted a double team attack to win the match, but Asuka continued to send off. Shayna decided to come back and was tagged, nearly losing when Bayley and Sasha did a backcutter / Bayley stomach combo. Asuka entered to get Sasha out and locked herself in the lock Asuka on the outside while Shayna locked her Kirifuda pouch to win.

I really enjoyed the back and forth with Sasha and Bayley before the game, and Sasha was able to convince Bayley to precede her to SummerSlam. I already had the feeling that someone was losing a title.

Maybe both will. And I think Bayley will be the reason Asuka becomes Asuka Two Belts. She said she would do anything for her best friend, and I think she will lose her best friend when this help goes wrong.

Another legend down

It was Shawn Michaels’ turn to criticize Randy Orton for being a bastard.

Before going out he met Drew McIntyre in the back and said he understands how upset Drew is, but he needs to understand, Randy Orton is going to use it against him. HBK called him a stallion and said yes it was tough but he can do it. He wants Drew to go to SummerSlam, show everyone who he is, but he wants a favor – give him some space when he comes out to face Randy.

He later said that without Ric Flair there would be no Shawn Michaels, no Triple H, Batista, Big Show, Edge, Christian and no Drew McIntyre. Orton doesn’t have the same gratitude and appreciation, despite Ric’s mentoring.

And Randy does good old RKO Outta Nowhere. McIntyre ran out and threw Orton out, but when he returned to check on Michaels, Orton gave him the RKO as well.

I’m ready for the game at SummerSlam. To be honest, I’ll be happy if either wins. Orton has had a stellar 2020 and as much as we say the old guard should be putting new blood on it, Orton deserves one last race. I’ve been a fan of him for a long time, and yes he got boring for a while. He even said it last month! But I wouldn’t mind another race.

As for Drew, his 2020 started off with a big Rumble victory and he secured the crowning glory at WrestleMania 36. His run to the top hasn’t had the best moments, especially the most recent feud before Orton, but the current feud. brought a real serious Drew needed. He was certainly one of the best babyface champions in recent memory.

Who do you want to win at SummerSlam?

A little better RETRIBUTION

This is how RETRIBUTION should always have been introduced, my friends.

I was enjoying Drew’s promo at the start of the show and the beginning glitch looked like an oops-a-daisy, but then the shot from the back and part of the group with bats and crow’s feet in the production truck.

They destroyed some laptops and forced a guy to cut the power to USA Network and advertise while Drew spoke. Upon their return, the hard camera was the only camera used for the first few minutes when The Hurt Business came out. Honestly, getting Kevin Dunn off the production truck is a babyface move.

I can only hope that this Friday they will take it to another level, similar to this show. However, I don’t know how much RETRIBUTION can destroy the Amway Center.

The rest

Mysterios takes revenge – Rey said having to see his own flesh and blood in agony and not being able to do anything about it made him feel a rage he had never felt before. He needed to be there to protect Dom, to stop the beating, to fight if necessary. No doctor on this planet will stop her from protecting her son. Dominik thanked his father and said he knew what he was into when he signed his contract, and he knows what he needs to do to stand up for their family, and he will be ready.

Seth said he didn’t take Rey for an idiot, and yet he stands in the ring with less than a week from the most important moment in his son’s life, putting him in greater danger. . Rollins can’t understand why he continues to put himself and his son in these situations. Rey pushed him down the ring with Murphy. They got out and while Rey distracted them, Dom got some kendo sticks and the Mysterios got their revenge.

I’m curious to see how Dom is doing at SummerSlam. The stipulation of street fighting will help him, but I want to see some struggle. I don’t think he wins though, even with Rey in his corner.

Apollo Crews def. Shelton Benjamin / Bobby Lashley pins Apollo Crews – MVP and Hurt Business called RETRIBUTION. Who benefits the most from Retribution’s actions, he asked. Apollo Crews does it! They showed up around the same time he fought Crews for the United States Championship, and it’s no coincidence. Apollo came out and said he knew MVP couldn’t beat him without Lashley and Benjamin. If he wins against Shelton, Hurt Business is banned from the ring at SummerSlam.

Benjamin tried a Paydirt but he got stuck and Crews hit a nice spinebuster. R-Truth and the ninjas got in the way and distracted Benjamin, and Crews got a jackknife pin to win. MVP issued a challenge for Apollo and two men of his choice VS. The Hurt Business in a 6-player elimination match. The truth has come back and Benjamin pinned it down for the 24/7 title.

For the team playoff match, Ali was the first to be eliminated. I hate you, WWE. Then Ricochet. I hate you, WWE. Apollo took out Shelton and Cedric came out of nowhere and pinned him for the 24/7 title. Apollo knocked out MVP, then Lashley pitched Apollo for the win. I didn’t care because I absolutely hate WWE for fucking Ali ALREADY! Lashley looked good, as did Apollo. Ali and Ricochet look bad. But that’s normal for the course.

Angel Garza beats. Ivar – Behind the scenes before that game this bachelor’s wife was hanging out and she quickly revealed how bad she is an actress and I logged out. Just be aware that Ivar apparently has the power to summon turkey legs from the ground. The match doesn’t matter. What Is However, Angelo Dawkins and Samoa Joe have revealed that there are footage from WWE.

Zelina has something to do! – Turns out our daughter Zelina Vega is the one who poisoned Montez Ford after all, and I have to say I’m a little disappointed with that. I would have preferred RETRIBUTION to be the ones behind this. Welp, I guess that’s supposed to start the fire under Street Profits. I see them holding back because the bachelor is probably involved in some way or another.

Ride Ford beats. Andrade – Short match and Bianca Belair criticized Zelina and Tez took advantage of the distraction.

Natalya wins a… match? – Most of Mickie James’ rematch was picked up by Messiah asking Samoa Joe how he knew Rey Mysterio was going to be in the building. The film crew prioritized this interaction over the actual match. It was a shame because I was impatiently awaiting the return of Mickie James.

Peyton Royce beats. Ruby riott -¯ _ (tsu) _ / ¯

Raw underground – This time we had Erik and Dolph Ziggler where Dolph choked him. Arturo Ruas and Riddick Moss were in a fight and no one won because he broke into the crowd. Shayna brought her friends Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke to Shane, and it earned Shafir a match she quickly won. Then Nia Jax came in and beat Duke and Shayna stepped into the ring to fight her, but she left. Underground was better this week, with longer matches with a more shooting combat feel. Camera work is always a garbage can.

Samoa Joe played a good role as an insider knowing Rey was returning to the show and the video Angelo Dawkins showed revealing Zelina poisoned Montez. I really liked this little arch from the series. Much of this show was fine. More YouTube worthy, in my opinion. The best part was the women’s team match. This is what interests me the most about pay-per-view.

I’m not very enthusiastic about ThunderDome as Kevin Dunn is still employed.

Quality: C +
