Hitman 3 ‘makes changes’ to elusive targets, drops ghost mode

And multiplayer is being phased out from Hitman 2

As a “dramatic conclusion” of the current Hitman trilogy, you would probably expect Hitman 3 to keep most of the secondary modes from the last game, especially given IO Interactive’s trajectory with this series. That said, there are a few deletions and changes – some of which will affect Hitman 2 players.

In a blog post, IO Interactive described Hitman 3modes of:

  • Campaign: “A globetrotting adventure to vast sandbox locations.”
  • Elusive targets: “The stakes are high and time is running out” but the developers “are making some changes to the Elusive Target formula which we will reveal later”.
  • Climbing: “Expect your gaming skills to be pushed to the max as new items are thrown at you at each stage of the contract.”
  • Contract mode: “Pick your own targets, pick how to take them out, then do it all.”
  • Sniper Assassin: “Can be played in existing maps as a single player experience only.”

Ghost mode, Hitman 2one-on-one competitive multiplayer, will not be returning for Hitman 3. To go further, IO stops the servers in Ghost mode for Hitman 2 on August 31, 2020, and “take all this learning into account for what we will do in the future in terms of multiplayer”.

If you are stressed about unlocking the phantom suit, be careful: it will be “added as an unlock in Hitman 3. “

Likewise, IO Interactive plans to suspend Sniper Assassin’s cooperative servers in Hitman 2 “before [January 2021] launch of Hitman 3The team says they will “be sharing an exact timeline and solution to the mode’s multiplayer trophies in the coming months,” so there is at least a silver lining.

As for PC VR, “what I can tell you today is that Hitman 3 will include PS VR support at launch. “Uh huh.
