UPDATE: The star-studded cast of the “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” table reading became even more star with the addition of Brad Pitt and Jimmy Kimmel. They join Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Matthew McConaughey, Morgan Freeman, Henry Golding, Shia LaBeouf and Spicoli himself, Sean Penn and Dane Cook. Exes Aniston and Pitt have previously appeared together on Aniston’s hugely popular NBC comedy series “Friends”.

The biggest all-star summer film event of 2020 technically dates back to 1982. On August 20, comedian Dane Cook presents “Feelin ‘A-Live,” a live fundraiser / virtual table titled “Fast Times at Ridgemont High ”, the iconic teenage photo taken by Amy Heckerling and written by Cameron Crowe.

Watch the teaser above.

The film was genuine and raw when it comes to teen comedies and is being hailed as a touchstone of pop culture – and the teen comedy is celebrating its 38th anniversary today. The live virtual table reading will not be repeated which means it should be a glorious event and all is well with a list of stars including Cook, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Matthew McConaughey, Morgan Freeman, Henry Golding , Shia LaBeouf and Spicoli himself. , Sean Penn (although he won’t be playing the stoner surfer – more on that later). An additional cast will be unveiled shortly. Heckerling and Crowe will do a special introduction at the top of the event. To find out who will play who, viewers will need to tune in to the live event.

The event takes place on August 20 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on CORE’s official Facebook page and on TikTok. The event will benefit the nonprofit humanitarian organization CORE, the humanitarian organization co-founded by Penn and its CEO Ann Lee, currently on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19, providing testing and relief services to United States. It will also support the REFORM Alliance, which focuses on passing laws to reform the criminal justice system and protect the incarcerated population from the spread of COVID-19. Live broadcasts will feature a donate button, with all proceeds going to CORE as well as the REFORM Alliance.

“I am honored that so many talented and wonderful people are willing to come together to celebrate our film and create their own special version of it,” Heckerling said. “And I’m a huge fan of Sean. He has such a big heart and I fully support CORE and all of its causes.

Crowe added, “Sean brought us magic from day one, and he’s still bringing that magic to the world. We are thrilled to be part of this 2020 version of the “ Fast Times at Ridgemont High ”. Thanks to this cast and to Sean for always honoring the best things in life, love and creativity. It’s, as a great man once said, totally awesome.

Penn said: “On behalf of our dedicated team at CORE, I greatly appreciate the support Dane has provided and continues to provide to our work. I’m always up for a laugh. So, to get together remotely for a night of laughs with so many talented people while providing CORE with the much needed resources to continue our vital work, then consider us fully on board to play! “

Surprisingly, Penn won’t be playing Spicolo, but he said he was “very confident in the new guy”.

Executive produced by Cook and Ivan Dudynsky, the virtual table read “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” is presented in association with Deviants Media Inc. and JWP.ws, follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
