If you’ve been trying to find “the next Tiger Woods” on the golf course, perhaps think of Tiger’s own son, Charlie. The apple may not fall far from the tree when it comes to capacity on the links.

The 11-year-old won an American kids’ golf event at Hammock Creek Golf Course in Palm City, Fla. This weekend and put on a pretty dominant show in the process. Woods won the nine hole par five shot tournament, shooting a 3 under 33 to finish atop the field. Charlie had a clean lap, counting three birdies and no bogeys.

As you can see from the weekend scorecard, Woods was the only player on the pitch to finish below par. (Further, a quick internet investigation led me to the disappointing conclusion that Frank Muniz Jr. do not the child of “Malcolm in the Middle” star Frankie Muniz.)

You would think that growing up the son of a legendary golfer would help provide a little edge for a young competitor honing his skills. It probably also helps when this legendary pro works the bag and helps give advice on the course, and Tiger spent his weekend caddying for Charlie as well.

The elder Woods praised, perhaps even envied, his son’s ability at such a young age.

“I would have liked to have had her move,” Tiger said, via GolfTV. “I analyze his swing all the time. I wish I could turn like that and turn my head like that and do some of these positions, but those days are long gone, and I have to relive them through him.

Tiger is hoping to channel his inner Charlie better when he hits TPC Boston for The Northern Trust in the FedEx Cup playoff first leg this week.
