NBCUniversal vice president Ron Meyer was involved in an affair with actress Charlotte Kirk that ultimately led to her ousting from the entertainment company on Tuesday, according to two people with knowledge of the situation. Meyer was forced to quit his post after a 25-year race after failing to reveal that he had made a private deal with Kirk. According to a statement from Meyer who did not name Kirk as the woman involved in the case, unidentified third parties learned of the settlement and were extorting money from the executive.
The case happened eight years ago, sources say Variety.
Kirk also had an extramarital affair with former Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara in 2013 and 2014. The disclosure of an intimate text message between Kirk and Tsujihara, as well as allegations that he attempted to use his position to secure his roles in film and television shows, prompted his resignation from the company in 2019.
In a statement, Meyer said the affair with the anonymous woman was “very brief and consensual” and occurred “many years ago”.
“I made this disclosure because other parties became aware of the settlement and continually attempted to extort money from me or they intended to falsely implicate NBCUniversal, which had nothing to do with to do with this case, and publish false allegations about me, “he added.
Kirk is a British-born actress whose credits include “Ocean’s 8”, “How to be Single” and “Vice”.
In Tsujihara’s situation, she told the Daily Mail that she did not disclose the text messages and urged the Hollywood Reporter not to publish her story exposing the relationship. She also said that Tsujihara had done nothing improper.
Kirk also briefly met Australian billionaire James Packer before being introduced to Tsujihara in 2013.
Kirk’s attorney, Raymond Markovich, said Variety that he does not know Meyer.
“I never made a settlement with Ron Meyer on anything,” Markovich said.
He did not respond when asked if Kirk had signed or initiated a settlement.
