The actress’ involvement with Warner Bros. chief Kevin Tsujihara led to her ouster last year.
The woman at the center of NBCUniversal vice president Ron Meyer’s abrupt exit is the same actress whose involvement with Warner Bros. chief Kevin Tsujihara led to the executive ’ousting of the year last.
Sources say Charlotte Kirk, the actress whose affair with Tsujihara was detailed in a March 2019 Hollywood journalist story, had also been in a romantic relationship with Meyer. In Tsujihara’s case, text messages showed he lobbied for Kirk to be considered for a number of Warners films, an abuse of power that led to his ouster 11 days later THR first report on the relationship. With Meyer, Kirk’s professional track leading to Universal was not apparent.
It’s unclear why Meyer recently disclosed the relationship to his bosses, but, according to his own statement, “other parties have learned the settlement. [between Meyer and the unnamed woman] and continually tried to extort me from paying them money or else they intended to falsely implicate NBCUniversal, which had nothing to do with this matter, and publish false allegations about me. NBCU CEO Jeff Shell told staff on Tuesday of Meyer’s ouster, saying Meyer “acted in a way that we felt was not consistent with the policies or values of our company. business”.
In his own statement, Meyer admitted he had a consensual affair with a woman and that it was brief. Sources say Kirk worked for a charity that involved the autism that Meyer supported (Kirk, herself, identifies as part of the autism spectrum).
“After disclosing this matter to the company, we mutually agreed that I should resign as vice president of NBCUniversal,” Meyer said in a statement.
Meyer’s extortion accusation mirrors that of Brett Ratner, who in a series of text messages THR revealed in March 2019, suggested she was shaking Tsujihara. Ratner, who was involved in Tsujihara’s cover-up and tried to interfere as Kirk’s requests for hearings grew more urgent, texted him: “You can’t take back the extortion you committed because that you texted and emailed asking for these auditions and jobs. ”By contrast, Meyer implies that a third party is involved in extracting the money in exchange for silence.
Like Tsujihara, Meyer was one of Hollywood’s most powerful men when he got involved with Kirk, an actress who went on to land small roles in Ocean’s 8 and How to be single. She got involved with both men around the same time, starting in 2013 with Tsujihara. Kirk, who recently played and wrote the horror film The calculation, also had a relationship with billionaire James Packer.
